INTERNATIONAL MODEL NATO 2026

Washington, D.C.

February 12 - 15, 2026

The 41st Annual International Model NATO conference will take place February 12 – 15, 2026. The Model simulates the proceedings of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, enriched by pre-conference study and briefings at embassies
of NATO member states in Washington, DC. It offers a distinctive chance to examine NATO’s role and activities along with the military and political-security issues confronting the Alliance.

By taking part in the simulation, students come to appreciate the capabilities and constraints that shape NATO countries’ policies on collective security. Beyond working through a prepared agenda, students also respond to a contemporary crisis.

Every participating university represents a NATO member state. Participants receive preparatory material, including the Delegation Handbook and Rules of Procedure, plus NATO 101: A Guide to the Alliance’s Purpose, Structure, and History.

Each delegation is briefed at the Embassy of the country it represents.

The International Model NATO brings together universities from across the Alliance to debate the same security questions that occupy NATO’s own committees. Delegates prepare through the Delegation Handbook, the NATO 101 guide, and briefings at member-state embassies before taking their seats in the North Atlantic Council, Political Committee, Military Committee, Nuclear Planning Group, and other bodies. Faculty advisors and a student secretariat guide the sessions, which culminate in a crisis simulation and a final communiqué.
